Fun and Play

Guinea pigs are rather intelligent creatures who need a decent amount of mental stimulation, otherwise they can get grumpy or depressed. Activities and toys are a good way to keep a guinea pig happy! Here you'll find suggestions and advice on buying or making guinea pig toys.

Buying Toys

Guinea pig or small rodent toys can be found at any pet stores and most pet sections in supermarkets. When choosing a toy at a pet store, remember to check the packaging to see which animals it is suitable for to make sure it is actually safe for guinea pigs. Also make sure all parts are safe to ingest for guinea pigs, because they will nibble everything in their cage! Amazon is a good place to buy toys online.

Making Toys

Making toys for guinea pigs is relatively easy, as they are curious creatures who will play with anything as long as it includes something nice to eat. One of the most popular and easy toys to make only needs string, a toilet roll inner and some hay. All you need to do is poke a hole in the middle of the toilet roll inner, tie the string into it, tie the other end of the string to the wall or ceiling of their cage and stuff it full of hay! Guinea pigs will enjoy this because it is a bit of a puzzle, a bit of exercise and a bit of food!
