Other Breeds

Not all guinea pigs fit into short-hair or long-hair, and that's because they don't have fur at all! These are the skinny breeds. They need a lot of care as their skin can get dry and sore, and they can be hurt by other guinea pigs more easily, so they are not for the first time owner, even though they are very cute!

Skinny Pig

Skinny Pigs came out of a laboratory in 1978, but have since become popular pets! They need daily care for their skin, but are otherwise lovely pets! (And they never need brushing! :D) They usually have short hair on their nose and feet.

Baldwin

The main difference between a Skinny Pig and a Baldwin is that the Skinny Pig is born without fur while the Baldwin is born fully furred but loses it through adolesence and is completely balled by adulthood!

Werewolf

Although not a recognised breed, Werewolves are growing more popular every day! They're the opposite of a Baldwin, as they are born bald but grow short fuzz as they grow older, a bit like they're transforming like a werewolf, hence the name!
